Comfort and cooling at Club Hacienda festival thanks to Multifan fans
During hot summer days, temperatures at events can rise quickly. For visitors, artists, and volunteers, a pleasant climate is crucial. At Club Hacienda Festival in Venlo, cooperation with Vostermans Ventilation took place for the first time this year. The company supplied Galvanized Box Fans, Mobile Fans with a diameter of 50 cm, and larger Multifan Tramontanas with a diameter of 130 cm. We spoke with Luca van den Hombergh, Programmer & Marketing at Club Hacienda, about their experience.
Why fans are used during a festival
“Fans are almost indispensable at music events; most artists even have them listed on their rider,” Luca explains. “Moreover, the weather forecast showed that the temperature on the day of the event would exceed 30 degrees Celsius. We were therefore looking for a way to make the climate more pleasant under these hot conditions. As a local festival, we like to collaborate with regional organizations, which brought us into contact with Vostermans Ventilation.”
How fans improved the hot climate at the event
During the festival, the fans were used in various ways. “Practically speaking, they were a huge help,” says Luca. “Volunteers behind the bar enjoyed cooling, the first aid post stayed cooler, and fresh air was indispensable at the DJ booth.” Thanks to the windchill effect created by the fans, the affected areas felt significantly cooler.
Besides the main dance floor, the festival offered extra space for about 400 visitors directly behind and next to the DJ booth. This made regulating the climate more challenging, as heat tended to build up near the DJ. To fix this, in addition to using a stage fan, five Galvanized Box Fans were placed on the main stage. “That made a big difference,” Luca adds.
Fans enhance not only comfort but also the festival experience
The stages were designed in a way that the fans could be seamlessly integrated. “The fans fit perfectly with the industrial design of our festival,” Luca explains. “On both the main stage and the second stage, they were positioned behind the DJ, bringing the whole setting to life. As the fans rotated and set the decoration above the crowd in motion, the show gained a dynamic and energetic effect.”
Multifan fans are easy to use at events
According to Luca, installing the fans was very simple: the Mobile Fans were easy to move, and thanks to the plug & play system, they were quickly connected. The Galvanized Box Fans could be placed in the decor with manpower alone.
The control equipment also proved very useful for the Mobile Fans, as the airflow could be easily adjusted to the weather conditions. Not only the organization was enthusiastic, artists and crew also found the fans indispensable. For artists, ventilation is often a requirement, and for crew and volunteers, the fans provided noticeably more comfort.
Fans are also important at indoor events
“An indoor event poses different challenges in terms of temperature control,” says Luca. “Indoors, the temperature rises much faster due to limited ventilation and the fact that people are standing close together. It’s therefore especially important to keep the air moving. To address this, during the indoor edition of Club Hacienda, Multifan Mobile Fans were placed on stage and behind the bar, where the temperature could rise significantly during the busiest moments of the night. The fans ensured a pleasant climate in these areas.”
Club Hacienda Festival is convinced of the importance of good air circulation at events. In the future, fans will continue to play a key role in maintaining comfort and enhancing the visitor experience.
