Energy payback time Frelink-4f
To save energy using existing as well as new installations, Vostermans Ventilation can offer a single-phase frequency controller: the Frelink-4f.
The Frelink-4f controls efficiently the speed of single phase fan motors based on a 0-10 Volt input signal. The frequency drive ensures energy savings up to 60%. Compared to a triac controller, the Frelink-4f extends the motor lifetime by operating at significant lower temperatures.
Ventilation systems are used at full capacity during only a small period of a year. In order to get a clear insight in the real payback time, Vostermans Ventilation developed a model which calculates the payback time based on the energy costs, the price and the diameter of the fan. The model compares the frequency controller to a triac controller.
When, during the main part of the year, 50% or less of the capacity is used, the payback time of the Frelink-4f (compared to a triac controller) will be less than 3 years. Of course, this depends on the fan diameter. The larger the fan diameter, the shorter the energy payback time.
In this computational model, you can fill out the price of a triac and a frequency controller. The model will compute the annual energy costs as well as the energy payback time. In this specific case, the frequency controller has a payback time of less than 1,5 years.
| Fan type 4E50 | Customer A | Customer A |
| Power use | Total KWh/year | Total Euro/year |
| Triac controlled | 1.138 | 250,43 |
| Frequency controlled | 537 | 118,20 |
